Happiness is a Full Tank
A full tank of fuel is the key to happiness. We know it sounds cheesy and cliché, but it’s true. The more fuel we have, the happier we’ll be. And the more we get out of our lives, the more we’ll enjoy it. Fortunately, there are ways to fill our tanks, too. These include: Meditation, social connections, and physical activity. All of these strategies will fill our tanks with calm.
Think about it this way – our brains use oxygen to power our bodies. We need it to function properly. Without gas, we wouldn’t have any energy to enjoy life. The same goes for our minds. While we can’t stop thinking, our thoughts are determining our daily life. If we only have a dollar’s worth of gas, we’d have to constantly stop to catch our breath. If our tanks are full, we can drive for miles without stopping.
In order to improve our quality of life, we must focus on the things that are important to us. We can’t focus on our problems without taking a deep breath. We have to learn to slow down and take our time. Our minds are like tanks. They can only handle so much fuel. So when we’re low on gas, our bodies won’t be able to function properly. So we should try to focus on our breathing, too, to make it easier to live.
